Oh hey guys. I'm back!
Ya I don't forgive me for that break either
Have some pretty polish as an apology
This manicure was 3 coats of OPI DS Temptation with one coat of Pure Ice Over You. Its a gorgeous glitter, there's turquoise hexes and bar glitters with small lavender hexes and some silver microglitter.
This is the manicure I wore for my senior pictures recently, just something simple and clean. The base is 3 coats of Sally Hansen Sheer Ecstasy with a tape mani accent nail with white (I assume Wet n Wild White?) This was the first time I worked with Sheer Ecstasy, and I have to say it's a pain to apply. I like these polishes sheer of course, so one coat of an even pigment is my preference. This was streaky no matter which way I applied it, and of course after the 3 coats it isn't exactly sheer anymore. I made due though.
That's the few I got pictures of- I need to do more nail art soon!
Side note: I have done a few more nail art designs, you can find them on my Instagram! You can follow me at @polishforthought, I have some manicures you've seen, some new ones, and it's all nail art! See you guys there!

Neon Gradient Nails
Happy summer!
I'm dealing with my last week of school currently, just have 3 more finals to do and I'll be summer ready! In honor of the summer about to come, I decided to throw on some neon nail art. I sponged on all the colors using a typical gradient over a white base, then used a black striper for the lines. The dots are done in Wet n' Wild Black Crème.
Color Club Neon Pink (no label on my bottle)
Color Club in Lava Lamp
Warpaint Beauty in A Mile Away
Hot Topic Neon Green (one of the old skull and crossbones bottles)
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Brisk Blue
Claires in Flashy
I like this to ring in the summer! It's so hot here, we've been in the middle of a heat wave. Have a great week!

Urban Outfitters "Mystic"
Quickie post today guys!
I just recently bought this polish, and it's basically a blurple jelly with your standard red/orange to green flakies. It applies so nicely and is actually incredibly durable once topcoated! Love this so much:
So far I love Urban Outfitters polishes. Need to get my hands on some more, so recommend some if you know of good ones!

Boston
I just posted these, but due to recent events I'll post them again:
It hasn't really sunken in for me yet. Other tragedies that have happened in my life time have been pretty disconnected- horrible still, but not as powerful. But I live here. It's almost like my home was attacked. I will always be proud to be from Boston, and my thoughts and love go to everyone else affected by this. I have such amazing friends outside of this city though, all of whom checked to be sure I was ok immediately. While I was no where near the blasts, I still feel like somehow I'm affected along with everyone else. I've definitely seen that as a city and community, we stick together. And I'm proud of that, and I think everyone should focus on that. The best way to fight hate and violence is with love and peace.

Prom 2013
I realize this has nothing to do with my nail blog, but I'd like to share it anyways :) I had prom Friday night and I had a blast, So just wanted to show off my nails, dress and hair of the night.
First up, of course, are my nails. This is the same manicure I just posted about, except I used Orly Gumdrop as the base color.
This was how I had my hair- originally the curls were down, but they were driving me nuts so I stole a few bobby pins from my friend and pinned some back. I love how this looks, I wish I had done it sooner so the pre-prom pictures looked like this!
And just for fun, this is how the skirt looks when I twirl :) My friends started calling this the "Girl on Fire" dress, and it is very Katniss Everdeen indeed.
Thanks for stopping by and reading! Let me know about your prom memories as well!

And of course, the dress. It's an aqua one sleeve chiffon dress with ruching on the bodice and rhinestone accents. Also, a three layered skirt. It's a whole lot of material to handle! The skirt has amazing movement though- as I walked it would flow out to the sides, almost like a fan was blowing it. It was a tad too big, even after 2 sessions of alterations, but it still looked lovely and i was able to survive the night without any mishaps.

Catch-up Day
Wow. I knew junior year would interfere with my blogging but I didn't think it would this much.
So sorry for the long break everyone! I do promise I'm back now, I'm working on setting up a schedule for constant blogging seeing as the school year is coming to a close.
So! I have two manicures to show you today.
First up is the trial-run for my prom nails this year. Prom is coming up this Friday for me, so I decided I should probably practice. I used Home Run by Pure Ice as the base, and then used a blue iridescent glitter mix by LA Splash in a gradient over it.
Next we have DS Temptation by OPI. It's a sheer blue base with mostly vibrant royal purple glitters, but also some silver. There are some very sparse blue and green glitters as well. This polish has a ton of dimension and it's incredibly vibrant- I loved it much more than I expected. This was 3 coats:
That's what I've been wearing lately! I'll try to post more regularly, and I believe I'll be doing a comparison swatching post coming soon. Thanks so much for coming by!

Boston Pride Nails
Hello Lovelies! Happy Discount Chocolate Day :)
Today my friend asked if I could do nails based on the Boston sports teams. The original inspiration picture can be found here. I tried to tidy up the design a bit and I'm quite happy with the result. The Bruins logo could be better but I was tired after doing that Patriots nail, so it is what it is.
These were done mostly in acrylic paints, with the exception of the Celtics' clover.
Thanks for looking :)

Fandom Skittles!
Yes, more attempts at the skittle mani. I've decided to do quite a few and then decide from there which one i want to submit. Help me out if you can by commenting and telling me what you like!
Today, we spotlight some of my fandoms! (I say some because I would need about 30 nails per hand to fit all my fandoms) However, these are my main ones. 20 points to whoever can guess them before I tell you!
There we have it! For those of you who don't recognize them all, the thumb is part of the Elvish on the One Ring from Lord of the Rings, index is the golden snitch from Harry Potter, middle is a janky Tardis from Dr. Who, ring is the apartment number of Mr. Sherlock Holmes on Baker St, and the French flag is for Les Miserables :)
Luv y'all!

Potter Skittles!
So Sincerely Stephanie is having a Skittle Contest over on her blog, and I had to decide just what I wanted to do. Did I want to center my skittle concept around a color? Perhaps a pattern theme. And then I thought: Fandom!
Then I had to decide which fandom.
So I decided to rock some Harry Potter house-themed nails!
Sorry about the sidewaysness here.... computer wouldn't let me fix that :/
And the thumbs! I used a ton of polishes here, so if you want to know what's what let me know :) I did my nails according to the houses, (Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff) and did the book font of the Harry Potter logo. Thanks for stopping by, and I may do another skittles mani as a second option, as I type this post out I am literally coming up with more and more ideas!

Drum Roll Please...
It came guys. My lovely baby came in the mail. It is here. And it is perfect:
Not many words are needed for this post I think. It's perfectly perfect and that's all I need to say. Oh and it's over black here :)

Fiber Optics Nail Foil
Hello lovelies! It's a Friday post-a-thon day and the second manicure I have to show you is a nail foil mani. I got this (and all my foils) from Dollar Nail Art. I've had these foils for years now and haven't used them much (due to the terrible wear of them) but it's an effect that I really love. I just wish I could find a top coat that wouldn't wrinkle the surface- if i could I'd wear them all the time.
This foil is a multi-lined design, in which each line is independently holographic from the rest. It creates a really interesting effect on the nails, but in light it looks absolutely ridiculous.
Obligatory blurry shot to show the holo effect in all its glory.
Here you can see those individual lines. If you want a tutorial on how I apply my nail foils, let me know :)

MAC Formidable!
This is one of the 2 MAC polishes I own. I got this when i was in Canada over the summer, and I absolutely adore it. My mother even loved this polish, and she normally tries to talk me out of buying it!
Formidable! is a dark purple based with duochrome glass flecks in it. The flecks range from fuschia to a turquoise blue, and the transition here is very obvious on the nail. I believe this was two coats, maybe three. It applies very smooth for such a complex polish, and I always get compliments on this when I wear it. The base almost has a tiny bit of earthy brown to it, making it all that more complex. I've never tried this over black because the base itself is dark, but I may try it to preserve the rest of this expensive nail varnish.
I believe this was around $22 CAD, not sure what it is in the states/ if it is available here. This was the first time I had ever seen or heard of the polish, so it may have been a Canada release only. Let me know if any of you guys have this or if you know more about it!

News!
Only a polish freak would be so seriously excited about this.
I have successfully ordered Clarins 230! Yes! Unicorn pee is en route to my house! I found a seller on eBay (let me know if you'd like their link) and I bit the *expensive* bullet! I decided to go on a huge no-buy, and this was my last splurge before this (ok, I might have to invest in Revlon's Royal). Many many swatches will be coming soon!
So ya.... I was happy and I wanted to tell some one who cared. I have no friends like this, so I told me other group of best friends- you guys! I'll see you guys in the later post!
